Terry’s Local Comfort Food

DSCF1970

Terry’s is the first local restaurant we tried on Guam and we love bringing newcomers here.  Their forte is their comfort food.

This time we got the savory bisteak with red rice (a staple here, on the island) and spicy kadon pika. Both are delectable!

Along with their regular menu, Terry’s offers daily specials. (the hamhock is my husband’s favorite). They also have shaved ice available for dessert.

Every day a new Chamorro phrase is inscripted on their chalkboard. This day was Ginen I Kuisina esta I kurason!  From the kitchen to the heart! The food here is made with so much care and love, you can taste it!

Edit: Terry’s has moved to Tumon and the restaurant is beautiful. Same great food!

Phở Noodle House

DSCF1977

Phở Noodle House is a little family owned Vietnamese restaurant located in the ITC building next to House of Brutus. They offer a variety of dishes, but we come here nearly every week for their phở, and not just any phở, we get the Vietnamese Special Beef Noodle Soup. This phở comes with beef, oxtail, tripe, and beef tendon meatballs floating in a fragrant soup with rice noodles and garnished with scallions and onion. A separate plate comes with the soup containing fresh basil, sprouts and calamansi. Add these to your soup and squirt in a little sriracha and/or hoisin sauce to your liking and dig in! This is a great dish for people who want to try something new (even if a little hesitant.) We have brought several people here who have never had phở and everyone has loved it! I have tried phở at several different restaurants on the island and Phở Noodle House continues to be the best! The owners are great and already know our order when we sit down. (I also recommend their fried lumpia, yum!). They even give a separate small bowl of noodles for our daughter to eat.

They have a few drinks on their menu that you may have never heard of. So if you are feeling adventurous, try the grass jelly drink!
